Clinical oncologists from across the country came together for a successful CO Audit Conference and Poster Competition at RCR in late June.
Described by one delegate as a “fantastic educational opportunity” the day included excellent presentations from a range of speakers on topics such as how audit can benefit clinical trials. Dr Rebecca Muirhead fed back results of the College’s latest audit assessing safety in implementing IMRT for anal cancer, while David Seabag-Montefiore explored some of the wider implications.
The audience were treated to updates from Dr Rachel Brock and Dr Martine Bomb on the Radiotherapy Dataset and the National Systemic Anti-Cancer Therapy (SACT) Dataset, and to a stimulating interactive QI session led by Dr Jonathan McAleese. who chaired the day.
Congratulations went to Dr Kevin Chiu and his colleagues for winning first prize in the Audit Conference poster competition with their poster The peninsula multi-centre head & neck cancer audit: Time from surgery to post-operative radiotherapy. Winner of the second prize was Dr David Maskell and colleagues for their poster Unilateral neck radiotherapy for tonsillar squamous cell carcinomas.
