Draft Palliative radiotherapy guidance

The public consultation is now open for the draft Palliative radiotherapy guidance.

This guidance seeks to establish evidence‑based standards by clearly defining the palliative intent of treatment, setting realistic expectations of benefit, and positioning radiotherapy as one component of holistic, multidisciplinary care. It emphasises careful patient selection, individualised assessment, and the supportive—but not prescriptive—role of prognostic models, alongside the importance of effective communication with referrers and shared understanding across pathways.
