Coronavirus (COVID-19) and the Advisory Appointment Committee (AAC) process

Tuesday 17 March 2020

Recruitment is the responsibility of the employer body and the RCR will endeavour to support trusts in how they opt to proceed given the current circumstances, presuming they will act in accordance with NHS Employers advice and in response to local conditions and need.

With regards to the travel usually involved for RCR representatives attending Advisory Appointment Committee (AAC) panels, for the duration of the effects of the pandemic on the NHS, we are encouraging use of MS Teams/Skype/Zoom or other equivalent videoconference software to conduct interviews (provided employers can provide sufficient IT support to make these systems work well for interviewees and others).

We are asking recruiting trusts to keep us updated regarding cancellation and/or postponing of AAC panels, as well as asking current AAC representatives to advise us as to their availability to attend panels via video conference.

We will continue to keep this information under review and update accordingly. You are advised to keep checking back for the latest information.
