Changes to CPD during the COVID-19 pandemic

Friday 4 December 2020

In light of COVID-19, the Academy of Medical Royal Colleges (AoMRC) has recognised that you will not necessarily be in a position to undertake the wide range of CPD activities to claim CPD credits, therefore a more flexible approach has been taken to the appraisal and revalidation process.

What does this mean for you?

Revalidation dates have been pushed back by four months, as stated by the GMC. The GMC have also recommended that your Responsible Officer/appraiser will not be expecting you to collect CPD evidence during the pandemic, therefore the RCR will not be expecting you to accrue the minimum 50 CPD credits in 2020.

The minimum number you are expected to achieve during your current five-year cycle is 200 CPD credits. Please refer to the AoMRC and GMC for further guidance.

If you have any queries please contact the CPD team:
