Leading the profession through the AI transformation
Artificial intelligence is already reshaping clinical radiology and oncology. The RCR is here to make sure that transformation is safe, evidence-based, and led by clinicians — not driven by hype or commercial pressure.
We work to ensure every radiologist and oncologist has the knowledge, confidence and protection they need to use AI responsibly, while influencing the national policy environment to keep patient safety and professional accountability at its heart.
Our approach
AI offers significant potential to reduce backlogs, support clinical decision-making, and improve patient outcomes. But realising that potential requires clear standards, solid evidence, and a clinician-led approach to implementation.

We use clinical insight and evidence to shape how AI is regulated and deployed nationally. We provide advice to policymakers, contribute to the National Commission on AI regulation, and publish position papers to ensure the profession's voices are heard where it matters.

From e-learning modules and blended courses to our annual AI Conference, we offer a growing portfolio of development opportunities to help members understand how AI works, evaluate its outputs critically, and use it safely in practice.

We set clear, practical standards for the safe and ethical deployment of AI in imaging and cancer care so that members can evaluate tools with confidence and institutions can deploy them responsibly. Our guidance covers procurement to post deployment monitoring.

Workshops on facilitating the use of routine data to evaluate AI solutions
