Leading Mentoring Advisor

Role Overview

The Royal College of Radiologists is seeking an experienced clinician to take on the role of Lead Mentoring Advisor, providing leadership and strategic oversight across the College’s growing mentoring portfolio. This role offers the opportunity to shape the direction, quality and impact of mentoring programmes that support our specialities at all career stages.

Working closely with RCR staff, Officers and key stakeholder groups, the Lead Mentoring Advisor will act as an ambassador for mentoring and support the continued development of our mentoring programmes.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide strategic leadership and oversight across all RCR mentoring programmes
  • Ensure coherence, quality assurance and alignment across schemes with differing audiences and delivery models
  • Act as an ambassador for mentoring, supporting outreach, engagement and recruitment
  • Support on recruitment of mentors and mentees and advise on the development, evaluation and the future mentoring delivery models
  • Support, mentor and champion Fairer Training Fellows and their mentoring reverse mentoring programme
  • Report on progress and future plans to relevant RCR boards and committees

Who Can Apply & Time Commitment

You will be a Fellow of the RCR, currently practising in the UK, with demonstrable leadership experience and a strong interest in mentoring.  You’ll bring excellent communication skills, an understanding of equality, diversity and inclusion, and the ability to inspire engagement across professional networks.

The role is voluntary, with a term of 3 years with an expected commitment of approximately 1–2 hours per week, varying across the year depending on programme activity.
