Event overview

Led by Dr Angela Pathmanathan, The Royal Marsden NHS Foundation Trust

This event will be a multidisciplinary technical radiotherapy workshop, (including an outlining workshop) in collaboration with RTTQA, the UK SABR Consortium and the RCR to support centres in delivering their prostate SABR programme for their local population.

There will be presentations from experts in the field from the UK and an open forum discussion where attendees can submit their questions to our panel. We will be joined by leading experts in the field, including Dr Alison Tree (The Royal Marsden and ICR) and Professor Suneil Jain (Queens University, Belfast) who have been leading on some of the PACE trials for many years.

9 CPD points will be awarded on completion of this course. All elements of the course are compulsory to receive the full eligibility of CPD Credits, including completion of pre-course activities and full day attendance at the event.

Learning objectives

The attendees will have achieved the following:

  • Review of the published data and indications for prostate SBRT and currently recruiting trials
  • Multidisciplinary discussion of the considerations for optimal contouring, planning and delivery of treatment
  • Evaluation and feedback for prostate SBRT cases at each stage of the pathway, in relevant smaller group sessions

Workshop overview

There are two parts to the course:

Part 1

  • Pre-course contouring activity (clinical oncologists only): 3 CPD credits
  • Pre-course planning activity (dosimetrists and physicist only): 3 CPD credits
  • Pre-course activity (radiographers only): 3 CPD credits

Part 2

  • In-person event participation: 6 CPD credits

Oncologists will be asked to perform contouring exercises before the course, with editing of contours possible during and after the workshop. We will use AQUILAB’s online OncoPlace platform. Participation does not require you to install any software; all you need is an internet enabled Windows computer/MAC (with the most up-to-date version of either Microsoft Edge, Firefox, Chrome or Safari installed). If you would like the Faculty to be able to see your contours ahead of the live session at the course, then please ensure they are submitted two weeks before the course (pre-course work will be circulated three to six weeks ahead of the course).

Dosimetrists and physicists will be asked to complete a planning exercise before the course. We will use AQUILAB’s online OncoPlace platform. Participation does not require you to install any software; all you need is an internet enabled Windows computer/MAC (with the most up-to-date version of either Microsoft Edge, Firefox, Chrome or Safari installed). The homework will be downloaded for planning in your own TPS and then uploaded onto the system for assessment before the workshop. If you would like the faculty to be able to see your plan ahead of the live session at the course, then please ensure it is submitted 2 weeks before the course (pre-course work will be circulated 6 weeks ahead of the course).

Radiographers will also be required to complete a pre-event activity.

Please note:

  • Private computers are preferred to NHS Trust computers due to Firewalls etc.
  • Faculty will not be providing individual feedback to you on your submissions.

This course will not be live streamed but is being recorded and attendees will have digital access after the event.
