CO e-Learning Site Specialty Lead
Are you a clinical oncologist who is passionate about developing interactive learning for the benefit of Fellows and members worldwide? RCR Learning is at an exciting and pivotal point in the development of our e-learning resources. We are seeking 6 new sub-speciality leads to join our newly formed learning faculty, dedicated to e-learning development and review, to support this important work.
In April 2025 the RCR launched “RCR Learn”, the new e-learning platform for Fellows and members. RCR Learn contains a range of high-quality, interactive educational resources, which we plan to expand substantially over the next few years. It is a key RCR membership benefit. Our vision for this is simple: to provide high-quality, accessible, practical, engaging and valuable educational resources for all.
We are looking to recruit oncologists across the full range of sub-speciality interests and those with a strong interest in new technology to lead on developing the content further within their area of expertise, fully supported by the RCR e-learning team. This will include creation of interactive contouring and radiotherapy planning related to your speciality and reviewing, updating, and creating new site-specific interactive content including updates regarding latest developments.
There will be an e-Learning Site Specialist Leads in minimum 6 of the following sub-specialities:
- Breast
- Lung
- Upper Gastrointestinal/ hepatobiliary
- Lower Gastrointestinal
- Head and neck
- Uro-oncology
- Neuro-oncology
- Gynaecological
- Sarcoma/Paediatric
- Skin
- Cancer Unknown Primary/Palliative radiotherapy
- Technical radiotherapy
- Systemic therapy development
Although in the long term we are seeking leads in all areas, initially we plan to recruit six oncologist who specialise in any of the 13 sub-speciality areas. We are aware that many oncologists will have more than one area that they feel they could lead development of e-learning content in, and we would be pleased to receive applications from those who can lead in either one or more than one area.
The site specialist leads will form part of a faculty alongside the CO e-learning lead, Dr Alison Cameron, and the RCR Learning Development Manager, Dr Amrita Bose. The faculty will collaborate together to develop these new resources and help to recruit and co-ordinate oncology colleagues and liaise with site specific groups and radiologists to assist in the development of these resources.
Results of an RCR insight panel have guided the initial development plans which noted a strong preference for resources relating to contouring and planning, new technology and comprehensive site-specific resources including updates on new practice changing research. Therefore the faculty will initially focus on:
- Development of contouring atlas for tumour sites and OAR/ gold standards for interactive online contouring
- Review of site-specific material currently on RCR Learn with development of material to fill gaps and refresh out of date material
- Production of annual updates in site specific areas e.g. “what’s new in….” and “highlights of x conference”
- Bite sized anatomy and OAR contour demonstrations
- Palliative radiotherapy training and competency
These will use a range of media including contouring atlas, online interactive contouring and other learning, recorded demonstrations, spoken slides/recorded presentations, and podcasts, with a mix of longer sessions and bite-sized. In addition the faculty will work with the new CO Exam Preparation Lead regarding development of e-learning resources related to FRCR.
