Clinical Radiology Digital Learning Sub-Speciality Lead
RCR Learning is at an exciting and pivotal point in the development of our offer within e-learning. We will work with 12 sub-specialist leads as part of our Digital Learning Leadership Group, for Clinical Radiology (CR), dedicated to developing new resources and reviewing existing ones.
2025 saw the launch of our new e-learning platform, RCR Learn, which will offer a curated selection of high-quality and interactive educational resources relevant to the specialty, as a key membership benefit for our Fellows and members.
We are looking to recruit a radiologist for the outstanding area of interest listed below and those with a strong interest in new technology to lead on developing the content further within their area of expertise, fully supported by the RCR Digital Learning Team:
- Head and neck (Currently vacant)
The sub-specialty leads form part of a leadership group alongside the CR e-learning lead, Dr Fleur Kilburn-Toppin, and the RCR Team. The leadership group will collaborate together to develop these new resources and help to recruit and co-ordinate radiology colleagues to assist in the development of these resources.to assist in the development of these resources.
As a sub-speciality lead you will provide:
Clinical Expertise:
- Work with RCR staff to operationalise and implement the e-learning vision; scoping the e-learning resources to be developed for your specialty in order to build a comprehensive library.
- Work with RCR staff to determine the key topics that should be constituent modules within the fundamentals e-learning course.
- Support the RCR staff team to complete a gap analysis and prioritise the list of resources to develop
- Collaborate with the RCR staff team and Digital Learning Authors to create course outlines for e-learning resources.
- Be the expert for your specialty.
Quality Control:
- Review draft content from contributors for accuracy, relevance, and clinical appropriateness.
- Escalate key decisions or uncertainties to the Clinical Lead.
Leadership of Resource Authors:
- Support the RCR staff in recruiting Lead and Additional Authors to create and redevelop e-learning resources.
- Lead and support the Lead Authors who are collaborating with the RCR Digital Learning Team to design and build e-learning resources.
Collaboration:
- Work closely with RCR staff to adapt content into learner-friendly formats.
- Share best practices and maintain consistency across different modules/resources.
You could also be the Lead Author and/or an Additional Author for some e-learning resources, where you will:
- Collaborate with Learning Designers to scope and design an e-learning resource.
- Write the clinical (source) material for the course, for the learning designer to develop into the e-learning resource.

Details of what's involved
The Digital Learning Sub-Specialty Lead is responsible for all clinical activities relating to the development of their sub-specialty e-learning programme, including:
- Review of specialty-specific material currently on RCR Learn and identify gaps in the portfolio and material that requires updating
- Facilitate development of interactive courses covering the more advanced (ST4-ST5) curriculum with REAL cases linked.
- Create bite-sized resources related to rare tumours in your sub-specialty for advanced learning in radiology.
- Based on the gap analysis, identify and develop new e-learning resources in your sub-specialty, which support the RCR’s strategic priorities and the needs of our membership globally.
- Identifying opportunities within our live events programme to develop high-quality interactive recorded content on our e-learning platform.
- Collaborating closely with the RCR Digital Learning Team to develop, plan and organise the RCR’s CPD learning resources.
- As part of the RCR Digital Learning Leadership Group, attend meetings and contribute to the ongoing direction of RCR Learning more widely.
- Supporting the ongoing recruitment and succession planning of the Digital Learning Leadership Group, supported by the RCR Digital Learning Team.
- Undertaking other duties relevant to the scope of the role in line with the Digital Learning Leadership Group and RCR strategic priorities.
