Clinical Oncology Undergraduate Committee
The Clinical Oncology Undergraduate Committee aims to enhance awareness among medical students, Foundation Year (FY) doctors, and Internal Medicine Training (IMT) residents regarding the pivotal role of oncology within healthcare, whilst also promoting clinical oncology (CO) as a rewarding and attractive career path.
Are you passionate about undergraduate, FY and IMT education? We're looking for committed CO consultants, CO residents and undergraduates to join our committee on a leading role in promoting the specialty.
What's involved?
As a CO Undergraduate Committee member, you will actively promote the specialty to undergraduates, FY, and IMT residents and support networking opportunities. Committee members receive administrative support from the Workforce Development and Training team.
Role description and responsibilities
- Promote the RCR undergraduate non-surgical oncology curriculum
- Identify and support undergraduate oncological societies
- Facilitate networking opportunities for societies to communicate ideas and resources
- Promote CO as a career option
- Judge applications for awards and bursaries
Time commitment
Committee members are expected to participate in three virtual meetings annually. The majority of the Committee's work will be conducted remotely via email.

Eligibility
All committee members are bound by the Code of Conduct and are expected to demonstrate adherence to the College values and strategy. To apply, you'll need to meet the essential criteria below.
CO Consultant member:
- Be a Fellow of the RCR
- In good standing with the College
- Currently living in the UK
- In active clinical practice
- Have demonstrable interest in education
- Be actively involved in undergraduate, FY or IMT education
CO resident member:
- Be a member or Fellow of the RCR
- In good standing with the College
- Currently living in the UK
- Either currently in UK specialty training or on approved out of programme activity
- Have demonstrable interest in education
- Be actively involved in undergraduate, FY or IMT education
Undergraduate member:
- Currently living in the UK
- Be in third year or above of medical school
- Have demonstrable interest in oncology
- Be actively involved in undergraduate education

Applications will be assessed by the Chair of the CO Undergraduate Committee and the Medical Director Education and Training of the Faculty. It will be ensured that no member of the selection panel has a conflict of interest with any applicant. It is not anticipated that it will be necessary to hold interviews.
