The Clinical Courses Portfolio Lead is a voluntary leadership role at the Royal College of Radiologists (RCR), working in partnership with the RCR Learning team. Sitting on the Clinical Oncology, Learning Leadership Group (CR LLG) alongside several other portfolio leads, the post holder will report to the CO LLG Chair, who in turn reports to the Vice President as part of the RCR’s Strategic Board.
The post holder will oversee a team and ensure that the RCR’s portfolio of oncology related clinical courses are high quality, evidence-based, and responsive to the evolving needs of the oncology community. They will work collaboratively with the RCR Learning team and course leads to define and implement the portfolio strategy, periodically review its scope and direction, and ensure continuous improvement through feedback, innovation, and shared best practice. The role is central to the RCR’s mission to equip radiologists with the knowledge and skills to safely and effectively use AI technologies in clinical practice.
The post holder will manage the course Leads responsible for the college’s clinical oncology courses, ensuring the portfolio remains cohesive, forward-looking, and aligned with the RCR’s strategic priorities. They will also work closely with counterparts on the Clinical Radiology, Learning Leadership Group (CR LLG) to support the development of joint faculty learning opportunities, promoting interdisciplinary collaboration where appropriate.
Additionally, working with the RCR Learning team, the post holder will guide and support course leads who deliver contouring and radiotherapy planning activities within the RCR Learning programme ensuring that clinical oncologists and multidisciplinary teams have access to high-quality, practical training resources that strengthen skills in contouring and treatment planning.
The portfolio currently includes the following products, with the potential for additional courses to be developed via the RCR Learning new product development process.
Fellow of the College by examination (no minimum period as a Fellow is required), resident in the United Kingdom, hold a current license to practice with the General Medical Council (GMC) and be in active clinical practice
As a portfolio lead, you are expected to embody and promote the RCR’s core values in all aspects of your work. These values underpin the College’s culture and guide our approach to education, collaboration, and professional conduct.
Portfolio leads will receive induction and ongoing support from the RCR Learning team, including access to resources and training as needed.
Performance and course quality will be reviewed through delegate feedback, observations, peer review, and post-course evaluation meetings.
Handover to a new portfolio lead will be managed collaboratively to ensure continuity and knowledge transfer.
