Urgent need for investment in imaging and cancer treatment services RCR tells PM

Wednesday 11 January 2017

The Royal College of Radiologists (RCR) has written to Prime Minister Theresa May in support of concerns raised in an open letter to the PM by the Royal College of Physicians (RCP) about the dire state of NHS services and the urgent need for investment.

The RCP view that the NHS is underfunded, underdoctored and overstretched, is borne out from data collected by the RCR which reveals a quarter of a million patients waiting over a month for the results of their X-rays and scans and the poor cancer outcomes in this country.

The RCR is urgently calling for more clinical radiologists and more clinical oncologists, and the need for a sustained programme of investment in imaging and radiotherapy equipment.
