In the first development of this kind for the RCR, we have collaborated with the British Society of Urogenital Radiology (BSUR) and Prostate Cancer UK to develop an educational package aimed at increasing the skills and confidence of clinical radiologists performing pre-biopsy mpMRI of the prostate. Educational bursaries towards the cost of participating are available.
Clinical radiologists have provided much of the content, and participants are encouraged to watch the MR imaging in prostate cancer webinar recording and complete the mpMRI before biopsy e-learning, before joining the mpMRI for prostate workshop. This workshop will provide the opportunity for discussion with experts and to examine cases that demonstrate a variety of findings.
Prostate Cancer UK is investing in a digital platform that can support radiologists to become prostate MRI experts. They have helped to secure funding for two pilot initiatives to enable neighbouring hospitals to maximise MRI capacity, aiming to deliver a diagnosis in just 20 days. Prostate Cancer UK has also brought together experts from relevant specialisms to develop clinical, consensus-led strandards for high-quality, consistent pre-biopsy prostate MRI delivery, to be published in 2018.
We will continue to build on the success of this collaboration by developing new resources with other organisations, broadening the range of free e-learning materials available to Fellows and members via RCR Learning.
