First ever Postgraduate Certificate (PGCert) in Medical Education for Radiology launched

Tuesday 1 December 2015

The College is pleased to announce the launch of a Postgraduate Certificate in Medical Education (PGCME) for Radiology in collaboration with the University of Dundee.

While specialist postgraduate certificates and Masters’ degrees in medical education exist for other specialties, there has been nothing similar for radiology. This new joint course between the Royal College of Radiologists and the University of Dundee's Centre for Medical Education is unique in being the first of its kind to meet that need.

Delivered entirely online, the PGCME takes one year of part-time study. It comprises three modules each lasting over twelve weeks. The first two modules cover learning and teaching, and assessment while the third is the learning teaching and assessment in radiology module. This module was written by the RCR’s first educational fellow, Dr Faye Cuthbert in collaboration with Dr Peter Washer, the College’s Educational Adviser, with support from the University of Dundee team.

The PGCME for Radiology is designed for trainee and consultant radiologists who wish to develop their careers in medical education and for other health care professionals who teach radiology including those based abroad. Members and fellows of the College are eligible for 10% discount on course fees. The first cohort starts in January 2016 with further intakes in May and September.
