Cancer doctors welcome new tech to speed up diagnosis
The Department of Health and Social Care (DHSC) has announced the rollout of new tech to help patients receive faster cancer diagnoses.
Cancer 360 will bring key patient information together in one place so that medical teams can spot patients who need the most urgent attention and see patients quicker. The technology will be rolled out to all NHS trusts.
Responding to the announcement, Dr Tom Roques, Vice-President for Clinical Oncology at the Royal College of Radiologists, said:
“As the NHS faces ever-increasing demand for cancer care, we must consider how technology can boost our productivity, so we can diagnose and treat patients quicker.
Digital tools have huge potential to save doctors precious time, freeing us up from administrative work to spend more time caring for our patients.
We are pleased to see the government taking decisive action to harness technology. We hope this will support both patients and clinicians – and ultimately, improve cancer outcomes for the UK.”
