Father to twelve children, Frank studied medicine at the University of Sheffield and was a consultant for thirty years at Weston Park Hospital, a dedicated cancer centre which he was instrumental in planning and opening, and which he subsequently directed.
He held several positions at The Royal College of Radiologists including as vice-president from 1987-1988 and previously served as vice-president of Radiotherapy and Oncology from 1986-1987. As Diarmid Guinness Travelling Fellow in 1988, Frank visited Malaysia to lecture and teach at the invitation of the National Cancer Society of Malaysia. In 2006 he was awarded an MBE for services to healthcare.
His dedication to the local community, including, among many other achievements, the founding of the new purpose-built Rotherham Hospice, earned him affection and esteem and he was made a Freeman of the Borough of Rotherham.
He was a true gentleman with a lovely sense of humour - his passionate support of local charities, right through to his final days, is much missed.
