RCR standards and guidance consultations
Imaging acute abdominal and pelvic presentations in pregnancy
The public consultation is now open for the draft Imaging acute abdominal and pelvic presentations in pregnancy.
Acute abdominal and pelvic symptoms in pregnancy can be difficult to assess due to physiological changes and concerns around imaging, yet timely diagnosis is essential to protect both mother and foetus. This guidance provides practical, evidence-based recommendations to support clinicians and radiologists in safely and effectively investigating these presentations and has been developed collaboratively by the Royal College of Radiologists, the British Society of Urogenital Radiology, and the British Society of Gastrointestinal and Abdominal Radiology.
Below you will find the guidance draft and comments form. Please review the guidance and if you have any feedback, please complete the comments form, and email the form to [email protected].
The public consultation will close at 5pm on 13 March 2026.
