Standing Scottish Committee elected member role description

There is one clinical oncology member position open for election. 

The Committee is looking to elect one Clinical Oncologist from Tayside, Grampian and Highlands Areas.

Eligibility and Term of Office

Elected members of the Standing Scottish Committee will be Fellows or members of the Royal College of Radiologists in good standing, holding a current licence to practise in the UK, practising in Scotland and having the majority of their sessions within the relevant region. Each elected member will serve a term of three years. An elected member retiring from the Standing Scottish Committee will not be eligible for re-election until a period of one year has elapsed.

Time commitment

The Standing Scotland Committee meets in Scotland three times annually. Meetings are held either in person or virtually. Allowing for travel and reading time a whole day might need to be set aside for each meeting.

Role and responsibilities

The Standing Scottish Committee represents the RCR in Scotland, ensuring that appropriate College matters are communicated to and discussed with clinical radiologists and clinical oncologists practising in Scotland. Each elected member has the responsibility of ensuring that the views and concerns of the clinical oncologists or clinical radiologists in their constituency are relayed to the Standing Scotland Committee, which in turn will feed back to the Royal College of Radiologists through the Trustee Board.

Election process

Elections will be run by electronic ballot centrally through the RCR. Eligible Fellows and members must:

  • Be nominated and seconded by Fellows in good standing of their own Faculty practising primarily within their region
  • Provide written consent of their willingness to stand
  • Be elected by ballot of Fellows and members practising primarily in that region
