Learning and development

The College considers that the introduction of revalidation, underpinned by strengthened medical annual appraisals, should increase the likelihood of the early identification of areas where additional support or training may be needed.

The key is to ensure that an early/low level concern identified during an appraisal does not escalate to something much more serious. How such concerns are handled will be for the employer locally to agree in conjunction with the individual doctor.

The RCR provides a number of educational resources for its members and Fellows which are intended for use primarily as training, and developmental activities. These can be found on both our CPD and revalidation sections.

The RCR plans to build on these resources in such a way that it can support personal and professional development in an ongoing way throughout a doctor’s career.
