Medical educator development

To support and develop you in your role as a medical educator, we offer a range of training.

Postgraduate Certificate in Medical Education for Radiology

In collaboration with the University of Dundee, we have developed a postgraduate certificate in medical education. The PgCert for Radiology is designed for trainee and consultant radiologists with an interest in developing their careers in medical education.

Supervisor skills workshops

The General Medical Council (GMC) expects named educational and clinical supervisors to be ‘selected and appropriately trained’. We have designed this course to meet this requirement.

This course is unique as it is clinical radiology and clinical oncology specific, and covers the specific workplace-based assessments in each curricula.

Past delegates have said:

“This event has definitely given me insight into how I can improve being a supervisor”.

“The course was well organised and interactive”.

Managing the trainee in difficulty

Our Managing the trainee in difficulty course is designed for everyone who deals first-hand with trainees – such as clinical and educational supervisors, college tutors and training programme directors. Delivered by a Training Programme Director and supported by the Practitioner Performance Advice (formerly NCAS), this workshop is for  clinical oncologists and clinical radiologists and is delivered across the UK.

The morning session explores common issues, managing these and where and when to seek support. The afternoon focuses on  small group work scenarios (using professional actors) to help develop your confidence and skills in dealing with these issues. (All participation in role-play is voluntary!)

Past delegates have said:

“Gives me more confidence if I have to deal with a trainee in difficulty”.

“The role play sessions were very good with hands on experience of dealing with difficult situations”.
