The Long Term Plan will define healthcare in England for the next decade to come. However, exactly how the plan’s many commitments will be implemented and what it will look like in practice remains uncertain.
The RCR has been engaging with the Long Term Plan throughout its development and initial stages of implementation: we have responded to consultations both before and since its publication, and currently have representation on the medical workforce sub-group of the cross-sector national workforce group. This group will publish a workforce implementation plan later in 2019. We hope that, through this kind of engagement, the implementation of the Plan will reflect the needs and priorities of our specialties.
