RCR consensus statements on gynaecological cancer published

We are pleased to announce the publication of statements for gynaecological cancer; the latest in the RCR consensus programme.  Previous tumour sites covered include breast, lung, head and neck, and bladder.

We produce RCR consensus statements to guide and support clinicians in controversial areas of practice that lack strong evidence. Their aim is improve the standard of UK radiotherapy and to, where possible, reduce variation in radiotherapy practice.

Nicky Thorpe Medical Director Professional Practice Clinical Oncology said:

“We want the consensus statements to be practical and useful, and very much hope that they will support gynaecological cancer teams to review and improve their practice.

We are very grateful to the multi-disciplinary steering group, chaired by Alex Stewart, who led the project, and to all the centres who contributed to the consensus day held last year. A big thank you also to our patient representative Sarah Newman, founder of Get Me Back, who presented on the day reminding us of the purpose of this work: to deliver the highest quality care for our patients.”
