Professor Tom Crosby

We are deeply saddened to share the news of the death of Professor Tom Crosby OBE earlier this week.

Tom was an enormously valued friend of the College and an internationally respected consultant clinical oncologist at Velindre Cancer Centre, Wales. As a specialist in oesophago-gastric cancers, he contributed extensively to cancer care not only through his day-to-day clinical work, but also through his internationally renowned research interests as Chief Investigator for the UK multi-centre SCOPE trial and co-lead of the National Oesophago-Gastric Cancer Audit (NOGCA).

Tom had a pivotal role as National Cancer Clinical Director for Wales, transforming cancer services and championing the Single Cancer Pathway. He also helped establish the UK and Ireland Oesophago-Gastric Group (UKIOG), a multiprofessional group working to further research and clinical advancements for this group of patients, as well as the now globally recognised Cardiff FRCR course for clinical oncology.

Tom was known for his clinical acumen and authenticity, as much as for his humour and enthusiasm.

Our thoughts and deepest sympathies go out to his family, friends and colleagues at this sad and difficult time.
