Training in the UK

We support and monitor all UK trainees across the whole of their training, providing bespoke advice where needed and making recommendations for CCT. We are by your side from the interview process to the moment you’re awarded your completion of training, celebrating the highs and supporting you through the challenges.
We have direct links with the specialist training programme delivery across the UK. Our dedicated team works with universities, Deaneries and training programme directors to develop and deliver your training from undergraduate to certificate of completion of training (CCT).

Members in training have access to our e-portfolio system used by trainees, supervisors and the Annual Review of Competence Progression (ARCP) panel. The e-portfolio makes it easy for you to record evidence of your progression throughout your training, for your supervisors to support you in your development and for the ARCP panel to complete your review.

The work we do to support members in training also includes ensuring that workplace-based assessments are effective and useful, contributing to quality assurance for specialty training, and providing external advisers for the ARCP panels. We work with teams of experienced trainers to create a curriculum that ensures we effectively prepare trainees for their consultant roles.

Training outside the UK

We regularly partner with global organisations and institutes to deliver learning and training in both clinical radiology and clinical oncology, for doctors at all stages of their career. Our training guidance and resources can also be used to enhance your training overseas.
Our Medical Training Initiative (MTI) scheme is part of the national Medical Training Initiative. It is designed to allow a limited number of doctors to enter the UK from overseas, for a maximum of two years, to benefit from training and development in the NHS before returning to their home countries. Before beginning an MTI application, applicants and UK employers must read the eligibility criteria.
