Equipment, Workload and Staffing for Radiotherapy in Scotland 1997–2003

Technological trends in radiotherapy have enhanced the therapy's precision, safety and effectiveness, with much improved tumour targeting and sparing of normal tissue, which helps to achieve higher cure rates with less risk of debilitating side-effects. As new technologies emerge, it is possible to improve the level of care and the range ot treatment options that can be provided to patients.

This survey complements previous surveys conducted by The Royal College of Radiologists (RCR) in 1992 and 1997, and the UK-wide survey of 2003.
