You get what you're paid for? RCR members’ experiences of the NHS tariff system in England
Throughout 2018, the RCR engaged widely with its membership and beyond to better understand how the Payment by Results (PbR) tariff system is applied across the NHS in England, measuring its effect on the work of clinical radiologists and clinical oncologists. A breadth of experiences have been gathered in our report You get what you're paid for? RCR members’ experiences of the NHS tariff system in England. The report acts as a guide to how the system currently operates and reveals a variety of perceptions of the tariff system, how it works, and how it is applied. It makes the key point that it is crucial to recognise the pivotal role of clinical oncologists and clinical radiologists in the NHS through the tariff and coding system in order to build business cases for workforce planning, optimum patient care and future service provision.
