Supporting the International Day of Radiology (IDoR) by celebrating how clinical radiologists improve patient outcomes

Friday 6 November 2015

The Royal College of Radiologists (RCR) is asking organisations and individuals to join it in supporting the International Day of Radiology (IDoR) on 8 November 2015.

The RCR has produced two factsheets to help members of the public understand the huge contribution radiologists make to the treatment and care of patients including those with cancer. The first explains what a clinical radiologist is, while the second factsheet focuses on the rising demand for imaging such as X-rays and CT scans and why more radiologists are needed.

Commenting on the International Day of Radiology, Dr Giles Maskell, President of the RCR said: “The College is pleased to celebrate International Day of Radiology and we hope that these factsheets allow more people to understand what a radiologist actually does and how vital the role they play in modern medicine is to the treatment and well-being of patients.

People will also be asked to show their support via Twitter for increasing the number of radiologists in the UK by tweeting the message:

8 Nov is International Day of Radiology   We're celebrating paediatric, clinical & interventional radiologists
