RCR's Research Day proves popular event!

Wednesday 23 November 2016

The RCR Research Day was held at the College on the 15th of November and proved yet again to be a popular event.

“Great line up - inspirational and excellent talks”

Trainees and consultants with an interest in developing their research portfolio were inspired by a stellar group of speakers, including Professor Joanna Wardlaw, Dr Owen Arthurs, Dr Karen Eley and Dr Jonathan Rodrigues, who shared their experiences in undertaking research with frank honesty. Pearls were shared also by Dr Grant Baxter, the Editor of Clinical Radiology, on how to successfully publish and to review for the journal; and Dr Karen Thomas, Senior Statistician at the Royal Marsden Hospital, on how to design studies.

“[I] learnt about the role of the RCR in fostering research”

In the afternoon, Roentgen’s Den provided a fantastic opportunity for attendees to discuss and develop a research idea with a panel of experienced researchers (Dr Tom Booth and Dr Christina Messiou), a statistician (Dr Karen Thomas) and a patient representative (Mrs Diana Robinson) with the aim of improving success.

We look forward to seeing those research ideas submitted in the next RCR funding rounds!
