An exciting opportunity has arisen in our Communications Directorate. The Policy Advisor will spend their time gathering intelligence from the frontline of the NHS, analysing and advising on public policies or charity campaigns, collaborating with key decision makers, or responding to consultations from governments and regulators, no two days will be the same.
Our policy aims are simple: to enhance NHS systems, pathways and working conditions for RCR members so that they can provide optimum care to their patients. While the aims are simple, making it happen is less so. This is where the policy team comes in. Good working relationships with the doctors and senior manager are key to the success of this role, establishing credibility and understanding how their needs from the frontline can be best met.
Over the coming few years, there are key themes and levers which the team needs to navigate and find compelling evidence for policy makers. Not least of which is increasing the workforce numbers for diagnostics and cancer care amid an NHS that is understaffed across all professions and ensuring that the clinicians have the appropriate tools and equipment to perform their jobs as effectively as possible.
We are looking for a clear analytical thinker with the ability to exercise initiative, judgement and discretion to offer practical solutions. The successful candidate will have good working knowledge of public policy, government and parliament across the four nations as well as high levels of self awareness, diplomacy and emotional intelligence giving them the people skills to form and maintain effective professional relationships.
