Communications Assistant job vacancy

Location: Central London
Salary: £21,690 per annum
Hours: Full-time, 35 hours per week
Contractual status: Permanent

The RCR is a great place to work. At the forefront of the health agenda, our members diagnose and treat cancer, heart disease, stroke and more, whilst leading on innovations including AI, skills mix and community diagnostic hubs. As Covid recedes and the cancer backlog rises up the agenda, our members’ work and views have never been more important. The Communications Directorate is newly formed, and a recent restructure has created two new teams – External Affairs, and Marketing and Digital.

The Communications Assistant will be an integral role in a newly restructured communications directorate, supporting the Director and teams to deliver on ambitious objectives. We’re looking for a hugely organised self-starter who can turn their hand to database management, event organisation, diary management, sending out press releases and offering support to the Communications Director, the RCR’s President and also the Chief Executive.

You’ll be calm, adept at plate spinning and able to manage a varied workload, whilst learning huge amounts about communications, digital and public affairs. The successful candidate will have demonstratable knowledge, interest, or experience of working within a Communications team, the ability to multi-task and manage a varied workload, and have strong communication skills, with an understanding of how to effectively support senior executives.

If this sounds like the opportunity for you then you can find out more about the Communications Assistant role, the RCR and how to apply by visiting the RCR website and reading the Communications Assistant candidate pack (PDF).

The closing date for applications is midnight on Sunday 11 July 2021. First stage interviews are due to take place on Thursday 15 July, with final stage interviews scheduled for Monday 19 July or Thursday 22 July.

Due to the current Covid-19 pandemic the interviews for this role will be held remotely via video conference. As part of our emergency response to Covid-19 it is likely the successful candidate will work remotely for a period of time before we complete a phased return back to the office.
