Dr James O'Connor - 2005–08 CRUK/RCR Clinical Research Training Fellowship
Non-Invasive Assessment of the Temporal Relationship between Microvascular Heterogeneity and Tumour Growth
NIHR Clinical Lecturer in Radiology
University of Manchester & Christie Hospital
I completed the CRUK/RCR Fellowship in 2008 and was awarded my PhD in February 2009. During that time I was able to train as a researcher in basic and clinical sciences and to acquire the experience necessary to forge an international reputation in quantitative image analysis. The Fellowship helped me to develop collaborations with researchers in the USA and Europe as well as in the UK and led to invited lectures at International conferences.
My research output has led to original science and review articles in high impact cancer journals, funding by Wellcome and NIHR and a Clinician Scientist award from Cancer Research UK, both undertaken at The University of Manchester. None of these achievements would have been possible without the joint CRUK/RCR Fellowship.
