This webinar is designed to give potential applicants a basis for making the best use of advice about applying for a Certificate of Eligibility for Specialist Registration (CESR) in Clinical oncology. 

It is aimed at clinical oncologists who are not yet on the GMC specialist register but who are preparing for their CESR application and intend to apply within the next year.  It will cover the key elements of making a CESR application and what you should consider before you do so.

You will hear from the committee and staff leads for CESR applications at the RCR, and about the personal experience of a successful CESR applicant. We will include time for questions.

Webinar FAQs

What is a webinar?
A webinar is a web-based seminar or workshop that you can access from your desktop or mobile device.  It gives participants the ability to discuss information in real time without the time or travel costs associated with face-to-face training events.

What topics will RCR webinars cover?
There will be a monthly webinar which will either be radiology, oncology or non-clinical skills.

How long is each webinar?
Most webinars are usually 60 minutes long, which includes time for questions and interaction.

How can I book?
Please visit the RCR Events page where webinars are listed.  Webinars can only be booked online.

Is there a charge to join the webinars?
RCR webinars are free to RCR members and fellows

Can I gain CPD credits for participating in a webinar?
Yes, RCR webinars carry 2 CPD credits – 1 for participation and evaluating the event.  A further CPD credit can be gained from completing a reflection which should be kept for your own records.

I can’t attend the live webinar.  Can I access the webinar later?
Yes, recordings will be made of all webinars. Please contact 

How do I interact during the webinar?
There is a “raise hand” facility if you would like to ask a question over your microphone.  There is also an interactive chat box where you can post questions and comments to the organisers, presenters and your fellow attendees.

Will I be charged if I join by telephone?
No – there is a toll-free option to use if you are dialling in by telephone.

What equipment do I need to participate?
You'll need:
 -  Windows or Mac computer 
 - Internet connection (broadband is best) 
 -  Microphone and speakers (built-in or USB headset) 
 -  Most computers have built-in microphones and speakers, but you will get much better audio quality if you use a headset or handset. You can also make calls on your landline or mobile device. 
 - A web-cam is optional.

Can I use a mobile device?

Do I need a wired connection?
It’s usually better if you have a wired rather than wireless connection.  Wireless and mobile connections may have audio/picture delays and interference which can cause loss of sound/picture quality. 

What if I have technical problems?
Always test your connections some time before the webinar. When you receive your webinar link after booking, there is a test option given via a link. Do a test here.

Please check that your firewall will not prevent you from attending.  It is difficult for us to help with individual technical problems once the webinar is in progress so please leave sufficient time to read instructions and do the appropriate checks beforehand.
