A one-day workshop targeted at Clinical Oncologists (Consultants and senior trainees) who wish to develop their own clinical trials involving radiotherapy but do not currently have access to the infrastructure to do so. Attendees will be required to submit a trial idea prior to the workshop.

Sandpit I: Presentation of 3-4 trial concepts within each of the 3 groups

Present: max. 10 min each

Present trial concepts within each group (max. 6 slides).

Within each group, presentation of technical RT trial(s) first, biomarker/imaging trial(s) second, then RCT proposal

Task: Discussion led by facilitator about scope to develop clinical trial ideas or themes for clinical trials

Outcome: General discussion about all 3-4 proposals presented to the group – need to decide on which single proposal to take forward after the Refreshment Break

Sandpit II: Participants select one of the 3-4 concepts to develop as a study

Introduction to second group session – summary of views expressed about each of the trial proposals presented

Task: Work on clinical trial design with feedback from statisticians and CTU reps in each group, including focus at beginning of session on feasibility and at end of session on potential funding routes for each trial

Verbal presentation from 3 PIs on changes made to original proposal during the day: 5 min each
