Leadership: Improvement methods and how to use them

Monday 4 February 2019
Venue address:
The Royal College of Radiologists, 63 Lincoln's Inn Fields, London, WC2A 3JW
CPD credits:

This is a one day course for consultants at any stage in their career in radiology or clinical oncology, wishing to develop their own and their department’s leadership in order to provide quality and safety improvement.

Making changes and positively improving the work we do for patients and staff is hard. In our recent RCR newsletter (August 2018) we learnt about some great examples. But great things don’t just happen. Success requires a good idea, a culture of innovation and curiosity and dedicated attention to building the team and a successful change journey.

This day will provide an introduction to the NHS Leadership framework with a focus on primary driver 3, knowledge of improvement methods and how to use them at all levels within the NHS anywhere in Great Britain and Northern Ireland. We will explore the links between Quality Improvement and Clinical Governance as well as how to bring about change in the workplace illustrated by the sharing of real projects.

Practical approaches to coping with floundering projects, struggling staff and working with patients and families will be shared as well as tips on how to communicate your ideas to senior managers and what other resources are available.

An interactive, discursive approach will be used throughout to encourage the sharing of experiences and challenges.

This one day work shop is part of a series of workshops and webinars in 2019 that will provide you with the knowledge and skills to effectively and efficiently bring about improvement. All our departments and teams are very busy and under pressure, positive change is possible in spite of these challenges, we will share tools, methods and practical examples
