| Achieving The Cancer Plan for imaging of patients with suspected lung cancer: The Southampton Model. | |
| Background to the audit | |
| Cancer services have seen a radical overhaul since the implementation of The Cancer Plan. Meeting the diagnostic targets and reducing non-attendance rates has been challenging. A previous audit in April 2005 revealed only 54% of all outpatients CT scans for suspected cancers were performed within the 17 day target. A dedicated rapid access CT list for suspected lung cancer was initiated to reduce waiting times. Patients were given a choice of appointments and reports were issued on the day of scan. |
