	CTPA. Do clinicians follow guidelines?
	Abstract:
	Following the recent expansion in multi-slice technology, CT pulmonary angiography (CTPA) is fast becoming the main investigation for pulmonary embolus. This service development is having a significant impact upon workload, particularly, as patients with suspected PE require timely scans and reports. In order to try to control the numbers referred many departments have introduced investigation pathways for PE investigation which include other modalities such as VQ sans and leg Doppler. In this institution, guidelines for the investigation of PE were agreed between radiology and respiratory medicine departments. The final protocol was introduced throughout the trust, and the information was disseminated to all relevant staff and made available on the wards.
