Advice for Specialty Training Applicants

  • Entry to clinical radiology specialty training is at ST1 level
  • Entry can be from
    • FY2
    • And we encourage applicants who have completed core training in acute care clinical specialties, such as medicine, surgery and paediatrics
  • No previous clinical radiology experience is required. Applicants who have no more than 18 months of clinical radiology experence may apply but on the understanding that their previous training will not reduce the duration of training required for a CCT. Those with more than 18 months of clinical radiology experience are not eligible to apply for ST1 entry into clinical radiology and should consider how they might best complement their previous experience in order to be able to apply for a Certificate of Eligibility for Specialist Registration (CESR) through the GMC under the provisions of Article 14 of the legislation ("equivalence") rather than a CCT.
  • In order to submit an application your must fulfil the "essential" requirements of the 2010 Person Specification (the 2011 person specification will be published as soon as it becomes available)
  • Details of the application processes, which are separate for England & Wales, Northern Ireland and Scotland, can be accessed through the Specialty Recruitment page, which also provides further applicant guidance
  • The new specialty training curriculum for clinical radiology for trainees starting training in August 2010 has been approved by the GMC.
