This section describes the research activity of the Faculty of Clinical Radiology.
The chairman of the Faculty's Research Sub-Committee is Professor Alan Jackson. The Research Committee has two major roles.
- The first is to adjudicate over bids for RCR Small Projects Grants (SPG) scheme for projects relating to clinical questions for which commercial sponsorship is unlikely to be forthcoming or for which regional/local R&D Support may be forthcoming but additional funds are required.
The Research Sub-Committee also vets projects submitted to the Faculty of Clinical Radiology for approval where the peer-review process involved in obtaining Faculty approval might help investigators obtain funding from other sources (eg, Lotteries Fund).
Details about previous grants awarded (under the previously named 'Pump priming' scheme), and information on how to apply for a Small Project Grant can be obtained here.
- The second major role is to advise trainees who wish to become involved in research. The Committee is currently reviewing the publication 'A Guide to Radiological Research', which once updated will be very useful to trainees. You may also wish to consult the information available about the Röntgen Professorship.
