Mark your calendars for June 15 and 16, as we gather in Exeter for two days of engaging workshops and stimulating discussions. The conference programme will cover a range of topics relevant to our field, including radical and palliative planning workshops, career progression, exam techniques and updates on hot topics in clinical radiotherapy. This is a fantastic opportunity to network with fellow professionals, learn about the latest developments in our field, develop your skills and enhance your practice.

Attending this event will allow you to gain 10 CPD credits.

Learning objectives

The attendees will have achieved the following:

  1. Gained an understanding of the role of SABR to treat oligometastatic disease and have experience and feedback for contouring and planning
  2. Explore the issues facing LGBTQ patients undergoing cancer diagnostics and treatment
  3. The opportunity to explore non-standard career paths and training, including international

Your fee includes the two-day conference, all refreshments at the event, the course dinner and the guided run. Please note this meeting will not be recorded.

As part of this course, delegates are required to complete a pre-course contouring activity on AQUILAB. This will be sent to delegates towards the end of May 2024, with deadline for completion being one week ahead of the event, 7th June. All elements of the course are compulsory to receive the full eligibility of CPD Credits, including completion of pre-course activities and full day attendance at the event.

Delegates will have the opportunity to contour a lung, spine and lymph node case ahead of the meeting to submit them to our faculty no later than 7 June 2024 to be included as part of this session. On the day the session will mimic a SABR MDT meeting. Delegates will receive detailed feedback on their own contouring and learn in-depth about SABR planning and evaluation.

Dr Louise Hanna's presentation will discuss the different aspects of FRCR exams, attainment of which marks an important step in the progression of trainees. It will include an overview of the FRCR suite covering off the purpose of assessment for each exam, how exams are quality assured (examiner training, question performance, marking calibration measures) and how the reformatted CO2B exam introduced late last year is performing and what the examiners are seeing - and want to see - in that new style assessment.

The NOTCH session at ATOM will provide an opportunity to hear all about the National Oncology Trainee Collaborative for Healthcare Research (NOTCH), and how you can get involved! NOTCH is a UK wide multi-centre Oncology research collaborative that is trainee born and bred - aiming to involve trainees in our multi-centre projects across the UK, and running events including our Annual Research Symposium. We are open to both clinical and medical oncology trainees and aim to ensure that trainees receive research training and experience that will benefit them both now and in their future careers, whilst also delivering meaningful outputs that impact positively on the care that patients receive. During our session at ATOM you can hear all about our current projects, opportunities to get involved both regionally and nationally, and the exciting plans and collaborations we have coming up soon!

An overview of how to approach seeking out and taking up post as a new consultant; an open discussion on how to approach this. We will cover an outline of exploring job possibilities, application process, interview, pre-starting arrangements and getting established in post.
